Hygiene

Our family program consists of a professional cleaning, pictures, exam, fluoride treatments and information on prevention of caviti

es, the relief of sensitive teeth and bad breath. We also work with the MDA on making the public aware of the “Sip All Day, Get Decay” consequences. For children we recommend annual pictures to check for cavities, panoramic pictures at age 6-7 for the evaluation of permanent teeth. We also continually evaluate the need for orthodontics. If Orthodontia is needed we recommend that an orthodontic exam be conducted as early as age 8. An orthodontic exam can be conducted when all 4 anterior upper and lower permanent teeth; along with all 4 first molars (if erupted) are in place.

Early orthodontic treatment is highly recommended as it reduces the need for extractions, jaw surgery and having to obtain space due to crowding. Early treatment can mean superior results, which are highly stable.

We always check for the development of third molars (wisdom teeth). It is far better if the extractions occur between the ages of 18-26 due to superior healing. We also provide sealants to children’s’ permanent teeth to prevent decay.
